    Perfectly "Dead" Day!

Saturday, October 11, 2008, 09:05 PM EST [General]

Oh my goodness, what a glorious day on so many levels! 'Hey Nineteen' and I trotted off to make the yearly cemetery rounds this afternoon under mild temps and abundant sunshine. The leaves are coming near spectacular and soon I'll get the perfect pic of the valley walls all ablaze! Ha! I say that every damn year... are ya sick of me yet? Don't answer that!
I need to preface today's pics with a small story on my attraction and aversion to cemeteries. I've never been afraid of them... I adore them, as you could well understand. Nana drug me about every year tending graves for half the people in the valley, I swear! Even my mother's grave never caused anguish or sorrow. But I never ever felt she was there. Oddly enough I don't usually feel anyone there *shrugs* When I lost my soulmate, however, in the early summer of '95... I spent many a day and night by his grave. I couldn't see through my grief that whole summer. Late summer he came to me in a dream and told me, among other things, to ditch the graveyard. They are not places for the living. I haven't been back since. I still go yearly, about this time, to tend my families graves for the winter. To leave my offering of love.
Ok... that's my story. Now for the pics!
These few are from the cemetery where my Mum and Nana are buried... and if I'm not mistaken the last one does have a presence there. It was an old 'keep' turned into kind of a caretaker shed and as we entered I felt... someone(s). The pic shows two orbs! Cool...

This next set of photos is from an older local family burial ground... a very beautiful spot on a mountain just beyond the valley.

I had a lovely day and wish everyone the same with blessings and love... xxx ooo

Very nice photos, and keeping in the samhain spirit. I'm an old graveyard walker from way back. I have always been amazed at the stories you get from just reading what's on the stones.

I started walking old cemeteries back when genealogy was first going digital. Always left me with more questions than answers. Then I started walking them because they were quiet... one of the few places where my shields weren't under assault. Should probably start doing that again. Thank you for reminding me.
    be well dear friend

Nice pics. I've never felt afraid or even uneasy in a cemetary, in fact they calm me. I actually enjoy visiting cemetaries and getting impressions from the spirits. I always go away having connected with someone.
